Family friendly, local, casual eatery. Has wide menu of sushi and non-sushi items. Came as a party of 2 on a Saturday afternoon for late lunch. The place was still quite busy at the time, but we were seated quickly. We sat in the middle tables which have access to the sushi train, which has a section with plates ready to grab and a top section that has a bullet train-like carriage that beings sushi orders directly to the tables. Got 2 lunch bento box C, one Sashimi and Tonkastu, one Sashimi and Tempura. Portions were considerable. Tonkatsu 6-8 slices, tempura 8+ pieces of mixed veggies and shrimp, and sashimi was 4 slices each (2 tuna and 2 hamachi). We ate to our fill and had a couple pieces of tempura and tonkatsu and a bowl of rice leftover. Food quality was great and fit exactly our cravings for Japanese food. Staff was friendly and attentive and responded graciously to our appreciative "ありがと ございます". This restaurant has been part of San Jose and Japantown for a while, and I will continue to return often.

Absolutely terrible experience. We are from Asia, and we have never had Japanese food this bad before. It was completely inauthentic. The sushi on the conveyor belt looked like it had been sitting there for a very long time — the avocado even seemed rotten. The takoyaki was basically all batter, and we couldn’t find a single piece of octopus inside. The yakitori tasted awful and honestly looked more like Chinese food than Japanese food. Even the sukiyaki don tasted like a random Chinese-style beef rice bowl. The mushrooms in both the udon and beef rice bowl tasted extremely sour and disgusting. Also, there were three of us dining, but they only gave us two plates??? I kept trying to find a server, and one lady even saw me and walked away directly. In the end, I had to go to the back and get things myself. This is honestly the worst Japanese food I have ever had in my life, and the service was unbelievably bad as well. It’s the first time I genuinely did not want to leave any tip at all. The pictures I posted are the beef gyudon and the yakitori — see for yourselves.

Kazoo Sushi is exactly what you want from a small, local sushi spot—no frills, just really solid, satisfying rolls. The sushi here leans on the “meaty” side, which I personally loved. Every roll felt filling and well put together without trying to be overly fancy. Here’s what we tried: - Spicy Hotate Roll: The scallops were on the smaller side but still flavorful, and the mayo sauce absolutely made this roll—creamy, balanced, and delicious. - Spicy Maguro: This was a standout. The tuna was excellent—super fresh, thick, and generously portioned. Big fan of this one. - San Jose Roll: You can’t go wrong with tempura shrimp, and this one delivered. Crispy, classic, and very satisfying. Overall, Kazoo Sushi is a great go-to if you’re looking for hearty, no-nonsense sushi that hits the spot. Definitely coming back.

Sushi is good and restaurant has a nice atmosphere. Don't get the bento boxes though since the meat could be quite dry.

They were taking a lot of huge DoorDash orders when I walked in. However, I was still quickly taken care of. Sat and got my Sprite quickly, same with ordering and receiving my food. Ah, the food. Everything was very good. I got Bento Box C with sashimi and deep fried items. The sashimi was tasty and buttery, there was panko shrimp, imitation crab, white fish, and potstickers. The fishing potstickers were the best of that selection. I got a spicy tuna roll as well. Very tasty and not too spicy. The stand out however was the miso soup! Hands down the best miso soup that I have ever had, and I've had the soup at quite a few different places all over California. If it wasn't so far out of the way on my drive home I would stop and get some to go! P.S. When I got my bill, I did get some to go but now it's gone and I miss it... 😟
